- these boots feel very light weight!
- they give plenty of support
- it’s very comfortable to wear them
- I think the sizes run small and it’s helpful to go ½ size up
- they rub the ankle (it’s definitely because of how they’re built)
- I never lace the boots up to the top since they rub my ankles if I do
Finding the right hiking boots for me is a little bit difficult since I really care about nature and I prefer to not wear any animal products.
So, when a friend of mine told me about these vegan boots I got pretty excited. They got to me pretty fast and nicely wrapped, that is the first thing to mention.
There are so many things that made a good impression on me when it comes to these boots and I’m gonna run a tour through my list of “pros”:
- these boots feel very light weight!
- the boots give plenty of support
- it’s very comfortable to wear these (even for many hours) since they are pretty roomy
- I take these boots in 90% of my hikes and they give me no blisters
- I also take these boots around town
- I really like the color combinations (actually it was pretty hard for me to decide which colors to go with)
- the boots really mold to your feet
- the traction is great with these boots, even in the mud. Actually, I spent once 3 hours in the mud and I didn’t fall once
- now that we talked “mud”, it was very easy for me to clean the boots afterward
- I use these boots for almost all my outdoor hobbies (canoeing, 4 wheel driving, kayaking and even hunting!)
- your feet surely feel warm in these boots
- I got complimented for these boots…”Your feet look smaller!” and I guess all women (big sized in shoes…) feel nice when they hear that
- the Vibram sole is great since even on my heavy duty trails my feet feel comfortable!
There are some things that I think should be improved with these boots, though…
Let’s give it a go to my “cons” list also:
- I think the sizes run small and it’s helpful to go ½ size up
- they rub the ankle (it’s definitely because of how they’re built)
- I never lace the boots up to the top since they rub my ankles if I do
- they… look better in the pictures. Don’t get me wrong, they also look amazing in real life (this is why I fell in love with them), but…reality differs from the pictures
- they give no arch support
- they lack the rugged-original Timberland boot look
- they do feel a little bit chunky
- I would have liked for them not to need a break in period
- the boots are too roomy in the toe box (you can even wear 2 pairs of thick socks)
In the end however, I will buy them again (different color combination, of course). They come at a good price, I really love the way my feet feel and look in them and they give a great deal of comfort on my long-hours hikes. The not very pronounced sole helps with the comfort and the main problem remains the slight discomfort for my ankles. But they still make a great buy since the blisters don’t happen that often, anyway. Maybe I just need other socks 🙂
